I am absolutely appalled. I saw a consultant last week (paid for by my health insurance) and I was told they were doing a surgery list 7 days later and there would be a good chance I’d be able to have my operation on that day, which I was very happy about. It turns out my insurance company won’t pay for my surgery, however I was willing to pay for it myself as I am desperate to get my problem resolved. The operation costs close to £2500.
I have been told today there are no rooms available on that date and I will now have to pay to have my operation at QMC at a later date. Needless to say, I am livid. Do they want my money or not? I liked this hospital and I trusted it would be a safe, clean place to have surgery in. Now I have to pay to go to QMC and risk not having my own room, catching the norovirus (which according to the NUH website is rife at the moment) and not getting a bed and having to sit on a chair to recover.
The only saving grace is that the same consultant I saw at The Park, who I trust, is performing my operation at QMC. That is of course, if it doesn’t get cancelled…
