Surprised by the negative previous comment I read, and disagree with it. The hospital is large bright spacious and modern, flow through the building is good. It is busy, but that is what you would expect of a hospital. The odd smoker does "clutter up" the outside front of the building, but they do that everywhere don't they, now smoking is banned inside public buildings? The food is good and the nurses approachable and caring and professional. Communication so far has been good while my father is an in-patient on neurology - stroke unit. The local people should be proud and appreciative of the excellent hospital facility and care they have on their doorstep. In West Cumbria we have to drive 30 miles to the local hospital on poor roads for a significant part of our acute care, or suffer ambulance transfer while ill from one hospital to another.
Further cuts are planned in local provision of services. Value what you have, it's good and it isn't available everywhere.
"Excellent care"
