My appointment to take blood was for 07.55; 7 Dec 16.
I duly arrived on time, was given a pager and asked to wait in the main reception.
The pager sounded at about 08.10hrs.
I went through to the outpatients reception.
There I was asked to take a seat.
At 08.35hrs I went to the reception desk and stated that my appointment was for 07.55hrs.
There were embarrassed looks followed a flurry of activity, a look through the patient files, a statement saying I was next to be seen and a search to find a nurse to see me. It was obvious to me that had I not been so forward then I could have been sat there for a much longer time. It then took longer for the nurse to prepare than for the procedure to be carried out.
I was in and out of the treatment room in less than five minutes.
I eventually left the centre at 08.50.
While I accept that delays do occur, I do not think this is acceptable especially first thing in the morning. I was also not given an explanation why the laboratory requested further bloods following on from my visit two weeks ago. I invite the centre to engage with me to discuss this visit.
