Taken in by Ambulance (Paramedics were beyond superb), we got into Urgent Care and were placed into a queue of Patients waiting in the corridor together with their Paramedics - at this stage there was 9 Ambulances on the car park which meant 9 Ambulances were unavailable for any Patients needing them! Eventually got into a room - no bed! All observations had to be done standing up? Bed arrived, all necessary tasks carried out, confirmation of diagnosis etc...
Then we were put back in the corridor as the room was needed...
Over an hour later, put into a Bay where further tests were done and drips etc put up...
As soon as drip had finished - put back into another corridor "we need the Bay"...
Patient getting very upset about this by now, no continuity of practice.
Saw one Doctor in nearly 8 hours with a Stethoscope at the most inappropriate moment! That truly was the only input and the Doctor even left shift without checking on their Patients before leaving?
Had it not been for the Nurses - who were exemplary under the pressures they were under and had it not been for two in particular- I would have sought medical advice elsewhere (may seem fickle to others but you had to be there to understand my reasoning)...
it genuinely was like a case of musical beds and how the wonderful person running the department kept up with where everyone was is beyond me, they definitely deserved 10/10...
My ratings would be:- Paramedics 10/10, Nurses 10/10, Sister in Charge 10/10, Doctors 2/10, Experience - shocking, never seen anything like it...
All I can say is "thank goodness we have a superb GP"...
