"My experiences of Millbrook"

About: Millbrook Mental Health Unit

(as the patient),

I was sectioned under the mental health act 1983 by my mother after smoking spice black mamba and just want people to no you can stop this evil and turn your life around. It's worse then any street drug.

I was arrested 4 times before being sectioned and sent to millbrook orchid ward were I chose to give up this so called legal high and trust me it was hard.

I started to eat healthy and after few months my high came back down to a normal person with the right medication and professional help I got my live back on track went back to work saw my kids. My time in orchid ward was tough the food was nice. I met a wise man called Andrew who showed me the food trays. Some didn't have the healthy food chart on and on the wall sometimes didn't show the right food nutrition charts.

Also I brought a football in to give to the unit cos they had flat ones. Sorry NHS does know what phycisal health does for mental health. It works wonders to play. Have a team or feel like belong to a group can help young people so much.

The ward was clean. The staff were superb and don't get paid enough for what they do

dear ducksta

Many thanks for taking time to give your feedback

we fully agree as a trust that physical health opportunities are a significant factor in improving mental health and we are pleased to report that we are developing these opportunities wider; both at millbrook and in the wider community with bookings from everyone active doing sessions on the ward, positive goals football team and the development of our new activity coordinators based on the wards

If you would like to discuss any ideas or opinions about this I would be pleased to meet with you

I am pleased to hear of your positive experiences and will ensure this is feedback to the staff and I am so happy to hear you are back to work and seeing your family

I would like to wish you well in your ongoing recovery and thank you once again for posting your experiences on the patient opinion site

Kind regards

Kristy
