"Taking bloods"

About: Royal Lancaster Infirmary / Rheumatology

I had to have my bloods taken, which I am not very good with. I went into a room where 3 other people were also having their bloods taken. This made me very anxious and I didn't like the thought of other people watching me. There was lack of privacy for my liking. The nurse doing my bloods was rude and abrupt. They never introduced themself or asked me if I was ok. They just said sit down and literally stabbed the needle in my arm, it was the worst experience ever. I felt like I was part of a production line.

Thank you for letting us know about your recent experience at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary. We are very sorry that you felt the level of care you received fell below the high standard we would expect - especially when you were particularly anxious about having your bloods taken. We would like to speak to you directly if possible so we can discuss what happened and what we might be able to do differently to make things better for patients in the future. To help us do this, we would appreciate it if you could contact our Patient Relations team on 01539 716621. Thanks again and we hope to hear from you soon.
