In the past at Princes Park Health Centre:
Before there were a lot of problems with appointments. It was so hard to get. Sometimes I just hoped for the best if I couldn’t get an appointment.
Once I was told to get my son the flu vaccine. I came in twice for booked appointments but they said that they had no vaccine available. Then they changed their mind and said that he didn’t need it anyway. I didn’t know what to believe. It wasn’t very reassuring.
Now, I have started to get appointments much easier which is great. Now sometimes if the appointments are full the nurse calls. Sometimes that might be ok but once I was put through to the nurse and I felt I needed the doctor. I was on a vitamin B medication due to my iron levels. The medication said that pregnant people should take no more than two doses. I mentioned it to the pharmacist who said to talk to the GP. I called the surgery and couldn’t get an appointment but the nurse called me. She said that it was ok to keep taking in. I didn’t feel fully reassured and didn’t want to risk my baby’s health so I stopped taking it. I’ve had another blood test and am waiting for the result so I will see if all is well.
