"I had my little tv with internet ..."

About: Hillingdon Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

I had my little tv with internet by my bed, note that it was not free but it was a good option to keep me entertained.

What could be improved

The young doctor that came to take out blood and do my IV drip had really dirty hands, I had to send him back to wash his hands! The nurses treating patients, they were not that patient with the two old ladies staying near me. The food tasted like plastic, the carrots looked artificial. The communication with the surgeon who operated on me was too basic, no time for me to raise questions. Better and more professional instructions on how to recover from my surgery. Once they removed my cast the doctor told me to walk without the crutch and he did not informed me that I had to go to physiotherapy for a proper recovery of movement in my ankle.

Anything else?

I had a broken fibula that required surgery. I fell down at the Heathrow airport and Hillingdon was the nearby hospital. the A&E people were very kind and I was seen quite quickly. When they asked me to return for surgery that was another story. Nobody told me what was going on and it took for ever until we got some news. Everything was too messy. Once they knew the time of my surgery the nurse who had to prepare me was rough and the guy who came to do the IV had really dirty hands and nails. After the surgery I had a reaction to the anaesthesia (I had told them I have had this type of reaction before) and they gave me an anti-sickness medication that I just found out you should not give to people when awake!! I had this horrible pain in my groin!

I don't think they have done a proper job, I have a huge scar and each time my ankle touches the floor it hurts a lot. I do not recommend this hospital at all.

I am very sorry to hear that your experience at Hillingdon was not of a standard that we expect to deliver to our patients. I will pass your comments on to the A&E team as we treat any feedback seriously. I do hope that if you require our services in the future then you have a more positive experience.
