Breast cancer service

(as the patient),

I am 2 years post treatment for breast cancer and was worried yesterday that I could feel another breast lump. I called the breast nurse specialist at Stobhill who arranged an urgent appointment for me with the Consultant. On the SAME day that I called I was examined by the Consultant, had a mammogram and ultrasound then informed that thankfully that there was no cause for concern.

Let us not forget just how very privileged we are to access such excellent caring professionals who make it happen at time of greatest need and demonstrate such kind compassion for their patients. I have nothing but praise for the breast service at Stobhill hospital in Glasgow which is so efficiently managed by a caring team of people. I would like to thank most sincerely Ms McLean, Dr Dawson, Lena, Pamela and the staff of the outpatient clinics and imaging dept.

There is much work still to do to improve many aspects of the NHS but these staff are a credit to their profession.

Thank you for taking the time to post on Patient Opinion. I am pleased to read that following your appointment with the Consultant, you were informed that there was no cause for concern. It is a worrying for any woman to find a lump in their breast but that worry must have been worse due to your previous history with breast cancer.

Thank for your kinds words about the breast cancer service at Stobhill Hospital and the staff that provide that service, especially those that you mention personally. I will ensure that your kind words are shared with the service.
