"Poor visitor patient care in Kent"

As visitors to Kent from Yorkshire, based in Charing, we have today been astounded to have been refused any form of NHS service at three locations, but mostly are disappointed with Charing Surgery.

We contacted them to request telephone advice or an appointment for our 12 year old son who is recovering from tonsilitis (finished his antibiotics on Saturday), has had a cold and is in discomfort from a blocked ear. We wanted to check there was no inflammation or infection.

Charing Surgery told us that they were not accepting non resident appointments and we should contact Faversham Walk In Centre or go to accident and emergency!

We contacted Faversham, who said they could not accept us as it was not an injury, and Charing were incorrect and should be accepting our 12 year old as a patient.

We phoned Charing again and were again told it was not their policy but we should contact other surgeries e. g. Lenham.

So we contacted Lenham, and surprise surprise were told they only accept Lenham residents and Charing should be accepting us.

We have therefore given up. We shall hope that his ear is not infected, and if there is no improvement seek advice from our local Yorkshire GP!

We do, however wish to complain about how poor your Kent services are!
