"Experiences in the Breast Unit"

About: Barnsley Hospital

The following are in desperate need of review and improvement 1. The appointment system which frequently results in long anxious waits at the hospital. 2. Front one doctors who do not give eye contact to patients and do not properly introduce themselves. All staff is this department are guilty of this.b 3. Lack of involvement in decision making. 4 derisory attitude of some frontline doctors who dislike being challenged 4.overworked reception staff who cannot even muster a smile when booking patients in. 6. Treatment plans based on results of tests, scans etc should be previewed by patients so they are aware of everything that is being offered and why this treatment is right for the patient. 6. A much more sensitive , compassionate approach by all staff6. Better communication between PCT and hospital. Failure to do so means unnecessary catch-up ppointments with a GP and the impact this has on the PCT . This is possibly why AAndE is so overused.

Please do not treat patients as though they are thick and uneducated. We are human beings with an illness!
