"Nasty Nurse"

About: Fairfield General Hospital / Accident and emergency

My husband was taken to Fairfield by the paramedics. He was clammy, grey, dizzy with no balance whatsoever. The Doctor was marvellous - diagnosing labrynthitis. The nurse however was rude. They stuck a needle in his arm to take bloods. Even I could see they went in at the wrong angle. Didn't offer apologies. Just walked round to the other arm without explanation. The first arm bled. They didn't bother cleaning it. The doctor said my husband should stay in the bed until the medication started to work. The nurse asked us to leave saying they considered him discharged. We asked if they needed the bed. No. was the reply ! The doc came in and insisted we stay there

Very rude. My husband asked what his blood pressure numbers were as he couldn't see the machine. The nurse waved their hand and saying "coming down". This nurse was dismissive and ignorant. We do understand bp readings and wanted to know. Also the toilet had puddles of urine on the floor. Not good.

But the doctor was really nice. It was the doctor who helped us get a wheel chair and assistance to the car. We think the nurse thought my husband was drunk.

He wasn't. And he hasn't touched alcohol for over 40 years.
