"Very disappointed!"

About: Moorfields Eye Hospital (City Road Campus) / Ophthalmology

Going in for a consultation was fine, the member of staff at the desk was very helpful. My partner was then booked in for a cross-linking operation within 6 weeks. When we went for the operation we were disgusted, there was no-one on the counter to check us in and it was more like a first come first serve basis... for a hospital?? Really?? The operation went well, and after a week we came back for a check up which was even worse!! The member of staff at the desk told us to sit down, then we waited for nearly two hours for just a follow up appointment, once again it was more like a first come first serve thing. It baffled me as the Doctor/Surgeon got called over by a girl who had just walked in and demanded she got seen straight away, which the doctor agreed too (well i weren't having that either!) After arguing that we had sat here waiting for ages we finally got seen, the surgeon kept telling us that they were suffering from a headache and needed some coffee .. ok?.. said one of my partners eyes were still bad then sent us home. No follow up, no advice or anything! It's a shame because we live nearly 2 hours away from London, and to come all this way to be treated the way we did was ridiculous. I can happily say i hope i never have to go back there again. Oh and the member of staff on the information desk was useless, when asking where to park as the rates are expensive and we have no idea where we were going to park they answered ' i dunno i don't drive' not very helpful if you ask me. P.S the helper for the surgeon the first time we came was lovely!

Please allow me to apologise for what sounds like quite a dispiriting experience. We normally pride ourselves on the personal attentiveness that staff extend to patients and their carers, but it appears that these occasions it was not all it should have been. We would be happy to look into the specific circumstances of your visit and if you would like us to, please contact our

Patient Advice and Liaison service (PALS) on 020 7566 2324 or 2325 or email: pals@moorfields.nhs.uk
