"Patient Transport Services, Derriford Hospital"

(as a friend),

A friend of mine, booked a non-emergency ambulance to take her severely disabled husband to Derrriford Hospital for a liver function test. She was told he should be ready to travel from 3 pm onwards. Having got him dressed and ready, which for her is a difficult task, as she too, is quite ill, they waited and waited. No transport arrived. Upon contacting the Patient Transport Services, she was told "they were too busy"!
