"Beyond the call of duty"

(as a parent/guardian),

My adult old son with severe learning disability was admitted for a biopsy on a wound from a previous operation. We enlisted the help of learning disability nurse Lindsey who went beyond the call of duty by collecting my son from the house, keeping him calm and taking him all the quiet routes to avoid any upset. She stayed with him all day until he had his procedure. She contacted nurses ahead of of schedule to brief them on my sons condition, moods etc. She arranged bloods to be taken and dental dept to have a look at his teeth while he was under anaesthetic to save us having a repeat visit. Mr Mcdonald the surgeon knows my sons problems and went out of his way to consult the people putting my son under and the dentist and Lindsey so everything could run smoothly. The anesthetist were fantastic finding easy and different ways to get my son relaxed enough to get him under for procedure. The dentist came out of theatre to ask if he could do fillings to save my son coming back which I agreed. Big thanks to everyone who made my life and son's experience as calm as possible before and after procedures. Also thanks to Linda in ambulatory care for helping me to get my son out asap as she knew he disliked hospitals.
