My wife has had several visits to Good Hope Hospital, Heartlands and QE in Birmingham for on-going investigations and treatments over since June of this year. Whereas we cannot fault the medical care provided at any of these hospitals there is, in my opinion, a vast difference in facilities.
Both Heartlands and QE have good shop and catering facilities 7 days a week in well into evening visiting whereas Good Hope has a couple of small snack bars and a shop that is only open when the treatment centre is open - there closed in the evenings and all weekend. Whilst there on Sunday the only possibility to buy my wife any form of sweets was from vending machines that required exact change only! As for news papers or magazines there was nowhere open.
Why can't Good Hope operate viable shops and catering at the hours required by patients and visitors?
