"My Experience in getting Partial Dentures"

About: Charles Clifford Dental Hospital

After 30 years with a local dentist and consistently being told how well I looked after my teeth, I finally realised I was being hoodwinked. I asked if a couple of my front teeth could be crowned and was told they were too worn down. At this point I asked to be removed from their list. They quickly agreed so I approached the Charles Clifford dental hospital. They told me there would be a long wait for treatment, however after few weeks I had a letter inviting me to take part in some research.

I agreed and at my first appointment was told there was a problem inasmuch as my as my teeth were too worn down.

The dentist said they would have to build up my teeth and then make the partial dentures I needed. This took several appointments and then more to do impressions and make the dentures. In between all this I developed a nasty pain in one tooth. X-rays were done which showed up previous work to fix an abscess was not completed! This was fixed properly and work continued. I have to say that at each appointment I was treated with patience, care and respect at all times, and kept in the loop as to what stage we were at. Two of my front upper teeth that, my old dentist had told me could not be crowned were drilled, posts inserted and then fitted with ceramic crowns. Finally I was presented with not one set but two sets of partial dentures – one made from normal materials and the other set made abroad and entirely from some new plastic. Both fit perfectly.

What did I think? I was never once in any sort of pain (barring the abscess) and thought the whole experience was amazing.
