What I liked
That the fracture clinic was open and fully operational on a Sunday. My husband and I were able to attend the appointment (we live in hampshire) with my son who had sustained a shoulder injury while at University in Sheffield. My son and I were able to discuss the injury, treatment and expectation re recovery and possible futher treatment with the orthapaedic registrar who gave us the time and explanation which reassured us. We were also given the appropriate orthopaedic support so that my sons shoulder would be more comfortable and to enable healing. My son was also offered the opportunity to have a further appointment with the Consultant shoulder specialist the following week. The nurses were very helpful in offering advice re personal care and use of the shoulder support.
On a general note the hospital was very welcoming and the staff very pleasant and helpful. The waiting area was clean and functional and waiting was well within a reasonable time.
Anything else?
Both my husband and I were very impressed with the care given to my son when he first sustained his shoulder injury within the A&E dept on thursday and again today at Fracture Clinic. This experience has reassured us that while our son is livining away from home, in Sheffield, the healthcare he is able to access is excellent.
