"very disppointed"

About: Leicester General Hospital

my daughter had a brain MRI scan on the 12th September and the member of staff that carried it out was very friendly, polite and put her at ease and explained to us both what would happen and if anytime she felt uncomfortable she would be able to stop until she felt ok, it all went well and 15 minutes later all done. my daughter then had another scan on her spine on the 25th September at 3.30pm and we experienced the exact opposite of before. 2 members of staff carried this scan out and never spoke to me or treated my daughter with any respect or manners. She had tears in her eyes after 50 minutes, which is how long it took. she said one of the people was rude, abrupt and downright patronizing during the scan, telling her to stop moving all the time !!! my daughter was shivering with cold and was getting upset at how rude they were. The person spoke to her like they were being inconvenienced. This member of staff needs to learn how to talk to people and deal with teenagers as this left my daughter upset and me very angry.

Response from University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust

Dear Lisa,

Thank you for taking the time to post your review.

We are really sorry to hear that you and your daughter had an upsetting experience having an MRI scan at one of our hospitals. This isn’t acceptable and we would like to discuss your experience with you further in order to get more of an understanding of the details.

Please call 0300 303 1573 x5389 and ask to speak with Matthew Archer, Head of Operations. so we can look into this further for you. We will work with the staff on duty on 25 September on the MRI scanner at Leicester General Hospital to ensure that the patient experience is closer to your first experience, going forward.

Kind regards,

Matthew Archer,

Head of Operations
