"Gate 34b"

About: Southmead Hospital / Urology

I visited gate 34b earlier this month and on the whole was impressed with both my treatment after surgery and the hospital in general. The room was clean, food adequate and everything went as planned. The medical team were vigilant and provided me with all the information I needed post operatively. The nursing staff were kind and knowledgeable and I was treated mostly with dignity and respect. The only thing I would like to point out is that a number of staff on the ward insisted on speaking in their own language. At times this was disorientating, particularly on the day immediately after surgery. This continued on all shifts and even on one occasion in my room while I was receiving treatment. This to me is rude and needs to be addressed.
