My appointment was as an outpatient at the Respiratory Clinic. I checked in at the requested time and was asked to take a seat in the appropriate waiting area. After only a short wait, I was given a breathing test, which was carried out professionally by a pleasant nurse who was both obviously well experienced, and competent.
After that, I returned to the waiting area for only another short interval before being shown to the consulting room of Dr Hodkinson, who came in directly. Dr Hodkinson was, in my view, superb. Dr Hodkinson explained carefully and clearly the reasons for my examination, and proceeded to check my chest thoroughly. Dr Hodkinson's manner was calm, efficient and expert. After this the doctor took me through a CT scan I had had on an earlier visit to the hospital, explaining the results simply so that, as a layman, I could understand their significance. The appointment ended by prescribing a breathing device, and a follow-up appointment in three months.
I have always had a high regard for the NHS and for Crosshhouse Hospital. My experience yesterday served only to enhance and reinforce that high opinion. It was everything any patient could wish for - just first class all round.
