My husband & myself would just like to thank the nurses & doctors who looked after my husband when we attended A&E on Fri eve 02/09/16. We had been sent there by our GP to get his glucose level down when it was tested at the surgery in the afternoon and it was found to very high. Prior to this he had not had diabetes so it was a bit of a shock. We arrived at RBH at about 5.30 pm and didn't have to wait long to see the triage nurse who was lovely and explained what was going to happen. We then spent the next couple of hours going to and from the waiting room having various tests until he was put on a saline drip to try to flush the glucose out quickly. Although it reduced slightly it was still too high for him to go home so we were told that he would have to stay in overnight and have two further saline drips overnight. I think that the doctor could tell from the look of disappointment on his face that my husband wasn't keen on staying in and whilst were waiting for the 2nd solution to go through we were delighted when the doctor came to tell us that he could have a metmorfin tablet and go home with the promise that my husband would contact his GP this morning 05/09/16 which he has duly done. We also had to return to RBH on Saturday to get further medication. I have to thank all the NHS staff involved from his GP to the hospital staff for all thier help on Friday at what was a very worrying time for us and a very busy time for them.
"Grateful"
