At 39 weeks I was induced as my baby's growth had slowed down. I arrived with my husband at the hospital at 10:30pm and he was allowed to stay with me until I had the pessary at 1am. It was time for a midwife shift change at 7am and I had a new midwife who was really calming and reassuring. By 11am I was being moved down to the delivery suite with our new midwife. I have no words for how amazing they were. The midwife put me totally at ease and was just so kind, wonderful and caring. I am so glad they delivered my baby and I am so grateful for everything they did. My baby's heart rate started to dip and she needed a clip on her head to monitor her - at one point the doctors were also called in and they explained everything that was happening in such a calm and reassuring way that I didn't panic. They had my trust completely. There were other wonderful people involved during the delivery of my daughter and some amazing doctors whose names I am afraid escape me. The staff were lovely as was the member of staff who carried out the NIPE check.
Throughout pregnancy I had hoped for a water birth in the Harwich Maternity Unit but this unfortunately couldn't happen l. However, I still had an incredibly positive birth experience and I know this is due to the care I received whilst in the delivery suite. Thank you everyone - the midwife - thank you for bringing my baby safely into the world. We are so grateful for everything you did.
"Amazing experience"
