I had a miscarriage in May 2016 I was 11 weeks pregnant. I started bleeding on the Saturday and had to come back on the Sunday for a scan where they said they couldn't confirm a miscarriage I was showing only at 6 weeks growth and the baby wouldn't have a heartbeat. I was sent home and told I had to phone the next day to book in for another scan in a weeks time I want given any information as to what to expect during that week or what to do. I was just left. I had an horrendous week having contractions and it was quite traumatic as you can expect. I went back to EPU when I was told and had to sit on my own in the scan waiting room (no one could come with me) seeing everyone excited about seeing their baby and coming out with photos. I sat in the waiting room crying. When I went back to see the EPU nurse (which was the same nurse who told me to phone to book my appointment the first Scan when it was showing at 6 weeks and gave me no info) the nurse said did the sonographer explain what has happened? I said yes they had and this EPU nurse said "yes it looks like the product has passed" I was so upset and dumbfounded by their unsympathetic manner especially as the nurse deals with this everyday. This wasn't a product you buy from a shelf it was my baby I was heartbroken as you can imagine? I think the nurse needs retraining!
