My induction was booked in for 8:30am in mid June 2016 so I picked up my hospital bags and headed down there. Little did I know know how busy it would be! Every woman in Banbury had decided to give birth that day and the midwives wouldn’t start the induction because they were too busy to look after us.
At 5:30am the next day I was brought down to a delivery room and the induction was started.
I was in labour for 11.5 hours and the care I received was second to none. I had a fantastic midwife who managed to fulfil every wish on my birth plan - despite having the extra complication of the induction. She - and all the team - made my experience truly incredible. Despite the unit being just as busy as the day before, I never felt rushed and the staff were attentive and calm towards me.
My pregnancy was deemed as 'high risk' and I visited the maternity unit many times during that time. I suffered many bleeds, hypemesis gravidarum and episodes of reduced fetal movement caused by high cord pressure.
To have such a lovely calm, natural birth was a blessing and I highly recommend the unit as a whole and the staff who work there.
