About: The Royal Victoria Infirmary The Royal Victoria Infirmary Newcastle Upon Tyne NE1 4LP
One of my relatives were pregnant, her waters had broke and she went to the RVI. She and her mother said the midwives were lovely and a great help there was also a doctor who was lovely and a great help, but the leading doctor who was in charge was awful. The baby and mother were in great danger as there heartbeats had went sky high. The leading doctor left when they needed help and would not return for a while, the other doctor and midwives knew they were in danger but could not do anything without the permission of the leading doctor. She was in a painfully labour for 18+hours. She finally got told she needed a c section. The leading doctor then walked in and was rude to the midwife telling her to 'hurry up". No one knew it was an emergency c-section intil the leading doctor was ride to them about it. The midwife could not read the notes that the leading doctor had wrote due to the bed quality of hand writing. They finally got took to thetre 18 hours later, they were both very distressed. She was injured in her verginal area and had to have stitches. To add insult to injury when she got moved to the ward she heard two of the midwifes having a conversation about here saying "how is she going to handle a newborn baby if she can't even pick her own baby up" she was bed bound for the first day as she had stiches in her private area and her stomach she needed help to pick her baby up. Both mother and daughter are recovering well, thanks to the midwifes and the one doctor ( not the leading doctor ).
