On 1 July I was admitted for a tah with bilateral salpingo oophorectomy and omental biopsy and also treated for endometriosis. I was obviously very apprehensive, but was treated with the utmost respect, care and professionalism from my arrival at theatre admissions through to my stay on Murphy ward and subsequent discharge. I was told to expect the biopsy results within 3 weeks and a follow-up appointment in 6 weeks. Almost 6 weeks later I have received a letter with the biopsy results and also stating no follow-up appointment is necessary.
I appreciate that without complications follow-up appointments are not deemed necessary by the depart. Nevertheless what I have been through is not "routine" for me as an individual and it would have been so helpful in the healing process to have spoken to the gynaecologist to understand what was involved, to what extent and possibility of certain recurrences. All I can say is super care but non existent aftercare after such a major operation.
