"Having chest pains which would ..."

About: Lincoln County Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

Having chest pains which would not go away I asked my neighbour to take me to Lincoln A&E.Imagine my horror when I walked through the door to see at 2300 about 100 people milling about waiting. I registered with the receptionist and told them my symptoms.

The receptionist showed concern and asked me to sit down. Alas after 15 minutes I felt worse and very tired. The receptionist left their seat and went to get a nurse. The receptionist was brillient. A nurse took me into a room and asked me relevant questions. Again..the mannerism was excellent and full of concern. I was taken to a large cubicle and given ECg by a nurse and student. Full marks. Chirpy, concerned and helpful. The doctor again was very good, bed side manner excellent. Alas I was admitted but had to wait for a bed for an hour or two. I was then moved to the Assessment ward.

I was there spoken to by a nurse, again absolutely excellent and chirpy.

Later spoken to by a doctor who`s laughter was infectious. I was later met by the ward doctor who`s bedside manner was perfect. The doctor joked about various things and then thankfully I was discharged. The ward was clean as was the toilet. All the staff were brillient even the person who brought me a cup of tea and abowl to wash in.

I am Lincoln born and bred and I have a very large family of neices, nephews etc so I was sort of an ambassador. Stories do conflict and this is the complete reversal of my previous visit to this hospital where I was treated with complete indifference and uncaring attitude I swore I would never go to Lincoln again. Alas with a suspected second heart attack there was no where else I could go...Full marks on this occassion...Hugs and kisses to the nurses and a firm hand shake for the doctors...well done.

What could be improved

Just one sheet in the assessment centre so slept in my trousers and t shirt. an extra blanket would have helped.

Anything else?

Day staff were just as good.cheerful helpful and polite. Felt good about my treatment when I left which was completely different the previous experiences.
