"Follow up comments"

About: Lister Hospital

I posted an earlier review commenting on the staffing levels in place at Lister. I thought it only fair to follow up. The hospital went out of their way to follow up the issues I had raised and take time to discuss our experience with me. This was professionally and kindly done. There are areas that can be improved here, and most centre around communication - between doctors, between doctors and midwives and on occasion between midwives and patients. My sense is that stretched staffing levels; particularly amongst the doctors amplified these issues - and spending three weeks here (as most hopefully won't need to) amplifies them even further. Beyond this, I should, and would like to, reiterate my opening comment on the previous review - the friendliness and support of the staff (especially post birth as I have found out since that review) are exceptional. I'd like to offer particular thanks to the head midwife for Dacre for their willingness to listen and debate the points I had raised.

Thank you for posting a further comment Mr Bowler - we know that the team was very concerned at your original feedback and were keen to talk with you.

We know that this will have helped them understand the areas where improvements can be made, as well as ensure that you and your wife felt listended to.

We understand that your ife has now given birth, so all that remains is to wish you all every happiness for the future.
