I posted an earlier review commenting on the staffing levels in place at Lister. I thought it only fair to follow up. The hospital went out of their way to follow up the issues I had raised and take time to discuss our experience with me. This was professionally and kindly done. There are areas that can be improved here, and most centre around communication - between doctors, between doctors and midwives and on occasion between midwives and patients. My sense is that stretched staffing levels; particularly amongst the doctors amplified these issues - and spending three weeks here (as most hopefully won't need to) amplifies them even further. Beyond this, I should, and would like to, reiterate my opening comment on the previous review - the friendliness and support of the staff (especially post birth as I have found out since that review) are exceptional. I'd like to offer particular thanks to the head midwife for Dacre for their willingness to listen and debate the points I had raised.
