"Trip to A and E!"

About: Warwick Hospital

I have a slipped disk between my L4 and L5, I have known this a while! as i had sciatica in one-then both my legs for 9 months. Friday night the pain ramped up a level, to unbarable, to a huge amount that painkillers wouldn't touch, and noticed i couldn't pee! My thighs felt numb and it was all A bit odd! My partner took me to A and E sataday morning, knowing I could have a rare condition called caudia equine. I still could not pee, and walking was very hard, painfull and tricky! The saw me within 10 minutes! Had me checked over, asked all the right questions, they had to make sure if i could or couldnt feel personal areas, and did so with dignity and respect. I was most shocked when they agreed-I probably did have caudia equine syndrome. where my herniated disk was pressing on another group of nerves. Now this is an emergency, as to get the use back of those nerves, i needed to be operated on ASAP! I panicked, having seen a private consultant the week before who was trying to get me sorted by the NHS as an emergency case and was having no luck, i feared the NHS would let me down again and i would never get use of my bladder back again! The staff kept me calm, assured me. The MRI scanner is shut at weekends and have no neurosurgical team, within 2 hours, i was in an ambulance on the way to University hospital to be treated. I will review there seperately. But Warwick once again was quick, efficient, kind, clean, and down to the point of what was wrong. A*! Thanks all!
