"Excellent Medical Leadership and Nursing Care"

About: Pinderfields General Hospital

Our mum was admitted to Gate 45 in March following an emergency admission via A&E - she was gravely ill and ended up on HDU and later transferred to gate 45. Initially we had concerns re basic nursing care but following expressions of concern to DoN who listened and acted appropriately- the care was exemplary. The medical care was always professional fromthe medical team - the doctor showed excellent leadership by spending time to explain all the medical conditions, treatments and prognosis. The doctor was always respectful to our mum and to us as concerned family members. The ward staff from the senior nurse through to the support staff were always professional and the patient care was very good. The only weakness is that due to the ward layout there is no patient day room therefore patients who experience medium to long term admissions can be isolated- with no media facilities for patients to keep occupied and engaged with current affairs etc.
