I was totally disgusted today with the service i received from A&E reception staff, triage nurse, x Ray and even the consultant!!
I would have hoped that after such massive published inquirys such as the Francis Report, each hospital trust would have looked long and hard at the people that work within the care profession and the level of compassionate care and communication being provided to each and every person that needs care. The 6 C's are after all a minimum standard that all trusts should aim for as a minimum standard.
Kingston hospital however fails to ensure any of these qualities are demonstrated by any of their staff?
This isn't the first review regarding the lack of compassion or indeed communication from staff within the A&E department. It seems that people's comments are not investigated nor the people in question managed.
It is not surprising that the nhs is in the situation it's in with staff like the ones I came across today.
The reception staff made no effort to make eye contact, no please or thank you, very little communication.
The triage nurse again no eye contact, a totally unapproachable face, forget a smile!
The X-ray department was rude and my presence was an inconvenience. And when I was told to go back to A&E I wasn't told why, the doctor when he eventually appeared told the nurse nothing was broken...... In my arm, and that was it!!! No conversation with me, just with the nurse about me. A 40 year old man, it's an absolute disgrace.
Those people should consider if they really want to work within our healthcare system, as they clearly do not demonstrate the skills to do so.
Those members of staff and doctors should hang their heads in shame today as they failed the healthcare system, Kingston hospital and indeed a patient.
There are I'm sure hundreds of people out there unemployed that would jump at the chance to replace those unskilled people in a heart beat, and would no doubt provide a greater quality of compassionate, individualised care.
"Compassion less A&E Staff And Doctors."
