"Awful post op care - and bad attitude"

My husband had a hernia operation recently, he was discharged without passing urine first, and left with little knowledge on what to do in regards to his wound dressing. It was a very anxious time for us once we got home as he still hadn't passed urine and was becoming increasingly worried. Eventually he did, but this should have been monitored before discharge.
I would also like to note that some staff members should have shown a more sympathetic approach to relatives. Whilst waiting for my husband, I sat in the reception area. I asked the receptionist to tell the doctor i was here to collect my husband, they did so, but didn't seem best pleased. Then someone who was waiting for another patient asked the receptionist whether their relative was out of theatre. The receptionist replied 'I will have to go and walk back down there then' they said this disgruntled, when the person tried to joke by saying 'oh you could walk a marathon', the receptionist snapped back and said 'yes but looks like I'm not going to get my work finished does it'. I found this extremely unprofessional and awful to treat a relative of a patient like this especially during a difficult time.
