I needed to see a doctor when I was passing through the area on the canal. I explained the circumstances and why I needed the appointment to the receptionist (I had recently been diagnosed with anxiety and depression) but was told I couldn't be seen as I wasn't registered at the surgery and that I should phone NHS 111 for advice. I told her I knew I could sign on as a temporary patient and be seen but I was told again to phone 111. I am appalled that a GP's receptionist should misinform members of the public and deny them access to the medical care they need.
