The care of my elderly relative. From admission to MAU, transfer to West Raynham and then move to Oxborough nursing and sadly medical care were lacking. Nurses appear not to nurse any longer not just my relative but all others seem to be left to their own devices. There is even a form for nurses to fill in re the patient with the choice 'encourage to be independent' how true the poor souls are left to their own devices needing bedpans etc and just basic human contact. An extremely rude charge nurse on West Raynham basically ignored me when I asked for a commode for my relative who had been waiting for over 20mins. Totally IGNORED it was obviously beneath him to do any nursing whatsoever. The consultant (when the correct one was found) told us this was one of the better staffed wards. On Oxborough things were variable, call bells remained unanswered my relative was allowed to try to get to the toilet and fell... no one had communicated that he needed assistance to walk after his transfer from West Raynham. Patient line and TV is a joke the patients can't use it without help and no one helps them so they are basically stuck in a bay with very little input or stimulation apart from the incessant noise of unanswered call buttons. The call buttons themselves are on the old hospital radio handsets. When left in reach the patients still get confused as to which button works, still I suppose it cuts down the calls. Patients seem to whizz between wards (lack of beds and vomiting bug) What is the point of cleaning a bed space after another bed has been put in it. I witnessed cleaners with buckets full of water wandering between wards it does not surprise me that the vomiting bug has been widespread. The cleaning gel is not automatic dispense and you are likely to pickup whatever the last person who pressed it had on their hands and gel may work for MRSA but not for vomiting bugs! Discharge was a mess
Appalling expensive parking and log jamming in carpark. Visitingon most wards is for 1 hour only but minimum parking is charged for 3 hours. Pathways a mudbath as result of parking on the grass areas. No proper food available at weekends other than expensive junk food outlets as canteen closed. Staff therefore snacking on wards.
