"You will need to manage your own care so be..."
About: Royal Blackburn Hospital Royal Blackburn Hospital Blackburn BB2 3HH
To begin with, the latest CQC report (2014) is 'requires improvement', not 'good' as suggested by the NHS choices site.
Currently complaining so will avoid specific details, but we are very dissatisfied with:
Maintenance and communication of medical records
Care planning and monitoring
Feedback on progress of care plans
Continuity of care and communication/handover amongst care teams
Communication with patient and carers
Medicines management and safety
Delegation of tasks to non-clinical staff, eg taking blood samples
Understanding of needs of elderly patients with multiple health conditions
Appropriateness of language and attitudes of some nursing, care-assistant and ancillary staff
Responsiveness to concerns and complaints
There are so many concerns I would actively warn against using these services without rapid, evidenced improvement. If you or your family have to use these services make sure a named, senior person at the hospital takes responsibility for the care plan, explains it to you, monitors it and keeps you up to date and convinces you of the benefit and safety of every element of it.
