"A vote of thanks to A & E staff!"
About: Horton General Hospital Horton General Hospital Banbury OX16 9AL
I visited A & E a day after a fall at home and a sleepless night in pain. I'd fallen with my left foot bent under me.
I was seen by three members of staff, a receptionist who asked the usual questions, a Senior Nurse practioner who saw me before and after X-Rays and a radiographer. I was taken into a screened cubicle and asked questions. The nurse listened carefully and said they'd see me after X-Rays. I didn't have to wait long before being X-rayed with results explained soon afterwards and able to see the images clearly. Because I'd had recent surgery on this foot at another hospital I was advised how to ensure my results could be made available to relevant staff. In all I was in the Department about 75 minutes and had good care and left feeling reassured.
There was a steady stream of people across the age range needing assessment and a notice board explaining how many staff were on duty. The commitment was that all patients would be seen within 4 hours. Clearly met on this occasion! The waiting room was clean and there is a separate attractive area for children. It wasn't good to see crumbling plaster - the whole area could do with a make-.over. I couldn't fault the treatment I received.
