What I liked
Standard of care was very good throughout. The staff were excellent. It was also very clean. As somebody with dietary intolerances, I feared that food might be a problem, but no. Every meal was healthy and tasty.
What could be improved
When visiting as an outpatient, the receptionist in the specialist unit seemed determined to ignore me - as did the one on admissions when I was admitted. Same in A&E. As these people are first points of contact for most patients, who are not only needing treatment but are likely to be nervous and/or worried, they should be more welcoming. Even if they're in the middle of something, a quick look up and acknowledgement along the lines of, "I'll be with you in a moment", would be an improvement. As it is, one is made to feel a nuisance.
Anything else?
The ward staff were hard working and nothing was too much trouble for them. They went about their work with good humour and grace. Admirable people.
