"Physiotherapy waiting time"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Physiotherapy

(as the patient),

Been waiting 8 weeks now to see a physio for shoulder impingement. Absolutely useless NHS. Should be renamed NES. Emergencies only.

Dear amextess,

The waiting time for musculoskeletal (MSK) physiotherapy is at present much longer than we would like it to be. The waiting times are high because the demand for MSK physiotherapy is higher than the manageable level for the staffing available and demand continues to rise. The MSK physiotherapy staff are working hard to find ways to reduce the waiting times, by introducing new ways of working.

I suggest that if you are available to attend physiotherapy at short notice, you should contact the MSK Centre and ask to be added to the short notice clinic cancellation list. It would be helpful if you can provide a telephone number to contact you easily should an appointment become available

I also suggest that you visit www.nhsinform.co.uk/msk for advice and self care information on your condition.

I would like to assure you that we are working hard to try and reduce the waiting times for our patients.

Elizabeth Quinn

Physiotherapy Service Manager, East Health and Social Care Partnership.
