"Very disappointed in the restaurant"

About: Hairmyres Hospital

(as other),

Very disappointed in the restaurant. Went to get lentil soup and was told that 'head office' have taken it off the menu despite being told that its one of the biggest sellers and will no longer be serving scotch broth.

Staff in the restaurant then went on to inform us of more changes that 'head office' are making. Breakfast. No crusty rolls (another popular item) and taking off square sausage. Black pudding and potatoe scones ( all popular items. ) also Scottish.

You can now no longer buy rolls at lunch time unless its a small seeded roll (even then you can only buy this with soup) so there goes a roll and chips. Chips are now being measured portions. I got a portion of chips. I got 10 chips! ! Are you kidding me (because no soup).

If this was a shop or restaurant in a town center or anywhere else with all these cuts and changes. It would be out of business in a week.

At the tills the staff in the canteen seemed to agree that these decisions where wrong and going to cause outrage. And every person they served they handed a comment card and asked everyone to complain. And rightly so....

On leaving the canteen there were a lot of people. Patients staff and visitors standing at the box where you were to deposit these comment cards and they were all complaining about the changes and several people said that patients and staff are going to start boycotting the restaurant. I couldn't agree more.

The decisions for the restaurant should be left in the hands of the hospital. In the hands off the staff. Not this 'head office'.

This is supposed to be nhs scotland.

Very dissappointed in this.

I feel sorry for the staff who must feel backed into a corner.

The fact that they are actively asking people to complain must show how wrong it is to make all these silly changes.

Any restaurant outside would never be run like this. If they were, no one would go.

It's not very good for ill patients to go to a hospital restaurant to see staff unhappy and complaining and asking you to submit complaints.

Bring the restaurant back in-house. Back into the nhs. So that the right decisons can be made.

Dear honest opinion

Thank you for your feedback on the recent changes to our hospital restaurant menus. Just to assure you, I have asked that they are passed to our service providers.

A new seasonal menu has been introduced at Hairmyres. Soup is still available, with a different choice available each day. Breakfast items are still available although a number of changes have been made.

The restaurant will review the new seasonal menu which has been recently introduced at Hairmyres. We will re-introduce the locally popular food choices that were previously available where possible, and the menu will continue to be reviewed in order to give our customers at Hairmyres the widest choice available.

The system for obtaining Customer Feed Cards has not changed, and we have received a number of these cards this week, and this has been passed to our retail team for comment and further review of the changes to the menu.

Kind Regards
