My long term partner was admitted here with chronic anorexia. I prayed it would be the key to her recovery, I couldn't have been more wrong. She phoned me daily in tears about how humiliated she felt due to the staff treating her like a naughty schoolgirl. She was in constant pain and suffered horrendous oedema, which the Doctor refused to address. When she couldn't stand it any longer I phoned to ask for her discharge. Despite being a voluntary patient she was threatened with a section. There was nothing for the patients to do at weekends until they had access and she told me she felt she was becoming brain dead, she was so bored.
When they finally let her go I was relieved to have her home. I had grave concerns about her safety having observed the way she was treated by certain members of staff. I felt she was bullied and that they didn't listen to her, which caused me sleepless nights.
Serious improvements need to be made as this unit by no means lives up to it's 'outstanding' CQC rating.
"An awful experience for myself and my partner"
