"All the stops were pulled out"

About: Royal Bolton Hospital

After a routine eye check at the opticians it was discovered an abnormality in one of my 13 yr old daughters eyes. As this involved a swelling of the optic nerve we were very concerned she may have had a brain tumour.

We were given an accelerated appointment at the ophthalmic department and pushed to the front of every queue for a whole series of tests including an MRI brain scan. As parents we were totally stressed out but we were treated with kindness and sensitivity by the staff. No stone was left unturned to find out the cause of this problem and I doubt we could have received better treatment anywhere in the world.

Thankfully the tests revealed no serious threats to my daughters life and we cannot thank the staff at this unit enough. When the chips were down they were there for us.

I know sitting in A&E for hours with a cut finger is annoying but when we were faced with a potentially life threatening condition they were there.

Any parent would fully understand how stressful a situation like this can be. We're so pleased that there was no serious threat to your daughter's life, what a relief for you all! It is great that you have taken the time to post this -- much appreciated, thank you.
