"Re Physiotherapy Services"
About: Doncaster Royal Infirmary Doncaster Royal Infirmary Doncaster DN2 5LT
I also waited 8 weeks for initial assessment. Whilst sat in the waiting room up for my 2nd appointment I was told my therapist wasn't there. These things happen I get that - no drama was given an appointment for the next day.
But there seems to be so much emphasis on asking questions and taking information that I doubt if I have had more than 5 minutes hands on treatment in two appointments. My second treatment only lasted 5 minutes.Treatment areas lack privacy and are screened by curtains so you can hear the consultation in the adjoining area. I too am considering requesting to be re referred as I don't feel the therapist is really dealing with my issues.
I don't have much to compare it too but when I used to keep horses years ago - there was a thorough taking of medical history but more time was spent looking and observing the body, musculature, symmetry etc and movement and finally hands on treatment.
I'm not sure how therapists can do this when patients are fully clothed.
My experience of DRI is that treatment focuses more on patient exercises. Maybe this is modern physio - I don't know but if this is the case maybe a service where you can ring your therapist for advice if needed, as I had a situation where I couldn't do the particular exercise given. As my appointments are fortnightly - this is a long time to be in pain/discomfort.
