Right now me and my family are so frustrated and emotional. My father has suffered ocd (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) all his life and is having a very bad time right now-very bad compared to the past. I come home to see him cry every night and no one seems to want to help him.
He has been referred from pillar to post and had therapy which is not correct for the type of OCD he has! It took me 5 mins to research that he has Purely Obsessional OCD which means he has no physical rituals, his rituals all go on mentally in his head. Yet the health service are adament on giving him normal CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) for the more common of OCD sufferer with rituals. Why, oh why, has this not been researched and looked into?
My Father is at a loss right now as there is nobody outside of Crawley who is specialised in this area apparently! Now he is sitting at home crying waiting for a new referal. I feel that the system is a joke.
He even went to the hospital one evening as he was so bad and was just told ''I'll fax the GP for you.''
Someone sort this out and look into a person's mental health problems instead of just dismissing them. He needs help and that is what the NHS should be doing but I certainly don't feel like they are.
