I came here to be cut open, laced with chemicals and left comparatively disabled for six weeks. Of course I was anxious! However, I had to decide what to do about my small paraumbilical hernia. It was discussed in a friendly, competent, and, above all, respectful way, and I was able to make an informed and confident choice.
Between then and the operation, there were communications which were always appropriate and considerate.
On the day of the operation, I felt, not only that I was being cared for and taken into account, and in the hands of experienced and capable professionals, but also that there was a genuine sense of shared pride amongst all the staff. This made a remarkably encouraging impression, and is cause for congratulation.
I was given 30 pain-killers to cope with the after-effects of the surgery, and I thought perhaps I should show willing and take 3 of them. They didn't really seem necessary though because I was aware of very little post-operative pain, despite being a pain-hater! What there was faded within a very few days.
So, as well as telling people how well I felt about my experience, I always add something about how fortunate we are that we have the services of people to perform the aforesaid cutting open and lacing with chemicals with such huge care and skill.
Follow-up phone calls were equally kind and helpful.
"Hugely grateful"
