"Keeping fingers crossed"

About: Workington Community Hospital

(as the patient),

At 80 years old. In Middlesbrough Hospital I had a triple heart by-pass. I had to wait 2 ½ weeks as found to be very anaemic- even though blood was taken by nurses from practice every 6 weeks. I had the operation and was very pleased with my results as t my age, I felt good too, no pain anymore.

At 81 years old, I had a left sided stroke (6am) for two hours till carer arrived at 9am. My face, arm and leg still weak and my speech returned as I said vowels. Then I was sent to rehab into Workington Hospital.

At 82 years old I bled for 6 weeks. Used pads again, I asked the nurse why at my age was I bleeding, she said come onto your bed. She found polyops in vagina and said I would need examination inside womb. I then went to Carlisle to see if I could stand another operation, they said ok so I was at Gatehead for 2 ½ weeks. Everything taken away, had 4 more polops and cancer cleared out. Lucky lady.

I’m 83 years old now and keeping fingers crossed!
