I went to QMC for an after Op consultation with my surgeon. The appointment had been arranged two months earlier. I arrived three quarter of an hour early from some 30 miles away. The car park was full with the attendants closing off access with cones. I searched for 40 minutes and discovered about 80% plus of all parking is designated to the staff and/or hospital personnel. The attendant suggested I go to a local pub where the landlord was allowing parking for about £5. I called the department where my appointment was scheduled and said I had no option other than to return home, another 30 miles. This meant another appointment and all of the inconveniences for the hospital of a 'no show' and the cost in time and money of my journey. I think surely those in charge of the hospital car parks could have mentioned the problem of refurbishing the facility on the copious paperwork of the appointment letter with some advice for people like me who neither live nor know about Nottingham to allow us to meet the requirements. I don’t think it’s too much to expect in management terms that somebody suggests non urgent staff park somewhere else, even supplying them with the park and ride facility into the hospital so that the customers, the patients, are able to access the treatments. I wonder whether this hospital will even tell anybody there has been a problem.
