"Pain during colonoscopy"

About: Tameside General Hospital

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

This story has been posted by Healthwatch Tameside on behalf of a member of the public who wanted to remain anonymous. We do not have their contact details. They said..

This lady had a colonoscopy at Tameside Hospital as she had found blood after bowels opened. She was extremely nervous and asked for sedation. She says “They put a needle in the back of my hand which I assumed was sedation” but she found the procedure extremely painful. She was shouting out for them to stop, but this was ignored. She could not believe how painful it was and was not warned about this.

She felt “wobbly” for days afterwards and lives alone so this was also difficult.
