"When it all got too much"

About: Ealing IAPT

(as the patient),

I used to be the friendly, bubbly, positive person people would go to but following surgery, illness, money problems, house move and a relationship break up/infidelity all within a few weeks of each other for the first time ever I felt as if I could not cope with day to day life anymore.

My lifestyle, personality, weight, everything changed. I did not see friends/family for nearly a year and just about made it into work. Every thought I had was about the negative and what would go wrong/be bad. I have been seeing Naomi for 4/5 months and it has been life changing!

Naomi worked through my 'issues' and most importantly gave me the ideas and tools to work with to help me think like my old self again. At the beginning in-between appointments I would think 'I'll wait to see Naomi to deal with this problem/situation' but over time and putting into action what had discussed in session I am now able to manage day to day situation and problems as they arise as Naomi has taught me to.

I am now content/looking to move up at work, saving money, socialising most weekends, dating, taking care of myself as I used to, looking forward to the future and just happy! The best thing is I have my self worth back and feel I can now deal with any situation thrown at me in a way that will not send me back into depression.

Naomi was both very professional and approachable, I felt I could discuss very private situations that were affecting me most openly without judgement. Thanks again Naomi you have got me back to the happy and content place I thought I'd never see again.

Response from Consultant Psychologist, West London Mental Health NHS Trust

Dear Nicole,

Thank you so much for taking the time to post and let us know about your experience in Ealing IAPT. I'm so sorry to hear you went through such a difficult period in your life with so much happening all at once. It clearly had such an impact on you and brought you to such a low point. However, it is really wonderful to hear that your therapist was able support you with the right help and that in only a few months it made such a difference. I am so delighted that Naomi provided the right tools at the right time to help you recover. I wish you good luck for the future and will pass on your extremely kind words to the Ealing IAPT team and to Naomi.
