My partner visited today 21/02 because he has been suffering from painful / inflamed eyes - extremely red with blurred / cloudy vision . He was told that he could not be seen because the staff were too busy and that he should go and buy optrex . This information was given without any physical examination . (1st cause for concern) My partner then went to the pharmacy in the local asda and bought the optrex . After reading the leaflet he returned and the first thing they said was 'let me guess the walk in centre sent you and didn't examin you' (2nd cause for concern) the leaflet said do not use if you have eye pain or cloudy vision (3rd cause for concern) are the staff in the walk in centre trained ? Do they care ?
This service is provided to release the A&E departments of local hospitals from people who need not visit and because of the lack of concern / dismissive attitude right down from the ignorant reception staff to the rude apparent nurses - we have just spent 3 hours in a and e !
This isn't the first time Skelmersdale walk in centre have dissapointed ! It would appear that talking in groups is priority to seeing patients and in one circumstance it took 3 hours to see 3 people !
This service is poor and the staff need a serious shake up ! Southport were amazing ! Cannot fault them ! Skelmersdale have a careless haphazard reputation which is shameful !
"Dismissive and a let down to the NHS"
